Wondering how the top times list is compiled? Here are answers to a few questions you might have.
| Q: |
Where do the results come from? |
| A: |
The list is compiled from the team's computer database. The database has most times going back to 1996 but there are some significant gaps. More on these below. |
|
|
| Q: |
How often is the list updated? |
| A: |
After each meet, although generally not quite as quickly as the meet results are posted. |
|
|
| Q: |
Are these yard or meter times? |
| A: |
Meter. Results from 25 yard pools are converted to 25 meter equivalents before the fastest times are selected. Yard pools are about 7 feet shorter and times are a couple of seconds better as a
result. The software we use converts yard times to equivalent meter times by multiplying them by 1.11. |

| Q: |
I have a ribbon showing a very fast time. Why isn't it listed? |
| A: |
If you have a ribbon or medal with a time that looks like it should be on the list but isn't, the reason is usually because it came from a meet in a 25 yard pool (Balcones Woods or the championships at UT). Multiply it by 1.11 to see how it compares to the list. |

|
| Q: |
Where is my time from the 1996 championship meet? |
| A: |
Sorry, no results from this meet appear in the database. It was either never entered or it was deleted at some point in the past. |
|
|
| Q: |
Why aren't fast swimmers from the past listed? |
| A: |
Over the years there have been some very fast swimmers on the team and some of them are missing from the list. That's usually because they left the team before the database began in 1996. |
|
|
| Q: |
Why are there less than 5 swimmers in some events? |
| A: |
That happens when fewer than 5 swimmers on the team have ever finished the event without being disqualified. It is most notable with the Boys 6 and Under Fly. |
